"Al Rai Al Masri" or "Egyptian irrigation", Khartoum, is an old establishement for building ships that goes back to the early twentieth century. It is said that the senior agricultural inspectors (hence the name) and many of the elites of the Sudanese society used to live in this area, that was built on beautiful spot on the Nile river in what seems to be like a semi-island of green. Now all this is gone and only few abandoned old buildings and a smal ship-repair workshop are what remain. By time, many ordinary Sudanese people started to inhabit the surrounding area, which later became "Al Shajara" or "The Tree" village.
